Sunday School Classes are the foundational strategy in a local church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for building on-mission Christians through open Bible study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship.
The Great Commission – Matthew 28:19-20a (NIV), “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Evangelism – is leading unconverted persons to a saving knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 12:7 – 11 (NIV) we learn that gifts are manifested by the Spirit in each believer. In addition, as seen in the Matthew 28:19-20, all believers are commanded to “Make Believers of All Nations”.
Discipleship – Those who accepted Jesus’ message to follow him are called his disciples. Jesus associated his disciples with his own life, revealed the mystery of the kingdom to the disciples and gave them a share in his mission.
Fellowship – So, we have seen that fellowship in its New Testament sense is an inner unity expressed outwardly. It is not just being together but doing together. It is not just doing anything together but it is working together to accomplish God’s will.
Ministry – Ministry is the use of a person’s gifts and talents, time and energy, in the service of others. It involves the exercise of roles designated by the Church to fulfill its mission in different works of service, such as in worship, teaching, leadership, the sacraments, welfare, and stewardship.
Worship – Begin to experience and put into practice true biblical worship through your study, discussion, and private and corporate worship times.
